Just took a look at the car list for the new Need for Speed game. I was expecting the usual “latest and greatest” exotic cars, since that seems to be what the series has focused on in the past couple of iterations. There are plenty of Porsches, Lambos, and the R35 GT-R, sure, but there’s also some genuine Jalop goodness. Check it:

Personally, as a turbo brick enthusiast, I’m so frickin happy about the Volvo being in there. It’s also nice in general to see a list that reflects not just the newest and fastest, but also cars that reflect the best of car culture! Thoughts, Oppos?
(Disclosure: I am not a paid shill for EA or Ghost Games, and I thought the last few NFS games really sucked. No idea how the gameplay of this one will be, but was intrigued by the car list.)

From what I have heard there isn’t much to be excited about when it comes to this game but while it may be small that car list certainly has variety.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

Hm. The customization aspect is also interesting to me in this edition, because it looks like it’ll be possible to have a tastefully modified ride without descending to NFS Underground/Pimp My Ride/FnF levels of ridiculousness. I just want BBS wheels and fender flares, no Rocket Bunny bodykit, crazy-ass vinyls, or mile-high spoilers please!

Beats having 64 Nissan Skylines and/or GT-Rs in a game of 1197 cars. Over 1 in 20 cars in GT6 are a Nissan Skyline.

*yawn* sorry what were you saying? oh right. well I mean It doesn’t seem that they really tried THAT hard to make interesting cars in the game. I want to see a game with some lesser represented but still noteworthy (at least for their time) rides. Wheres the turbo Trans am, any turbo dodge from the 80’s/early 90’s (esp the 1992 dodge spirit R/t), Lotus Carlton, first gen Suzuki Impulse or the 2nd gen turbo awd (hell even the 2nd gen fwd with all wheel steering), eagle talon TSI, Mitsu Starion/ Chrysler conquest, 3rd gen grand am with the w41 or LG0 or even the turbo LT3, Z34 Lumina, first gen ford Taurus SHO, Suzuki SX4 AWD, Volvo 850r/ v70r, or what about a 2.3 turbo mustang or a Xr4ti and soo many other fun not so main stream cars that could be a lot of fun to play with that no game has ever given the chance to do so with. I get bored to death of all the same shit game in and game out. while that list is a bit further from main stream than you’d expect it’s nothing we haven’t seen before.

I’m digging the list as well. Still waiting to hear about game play once it’s out. I’d really like to buy it if it meets everyone’s expectations.

I just want NFS Undergound 2 again. I didn’t mind the craziness in fact I loved it. I refuse to buy a NFS game until they make a game that lives up to the awesomeness that was NFSU2, lots of customization, great soundtrack, down to earth “tuner” car list, and no forced on line gameplay.
oh an maybe some big SUVs just for the hell of it.
